At Backcountry Africa we pride ourselves in hunting safely, ethically and sustainably.
The areas we hunt are predominantly large, free ranging areas that are well managed and thus hold good numbers of wildlife and of good trophy quality. In our opinion the quality of the experience of the hunt is equally important as the size or score of the animal.
We help adventure hunters from around the world choose and experience the best areas that Africa has to offer. As an outfitter we have hand picked these areas to save our valued clients the guesswork of booking a hunt in remote Africa. As guides we pride ourselves on providing travelling hunters with an experience of a lifetime.
We strive to make our presence in these areas a positive one and continue to make them better than how we found them. By adhering to a strict quotas as well as responsible animal selection and we believe we are doing just that, additionally our operations are what helps fund the anti poaching operations and employment in these areas we are so passionate about.

HUNTING OPTIONS
Generally in Africa the duration of your hunt is dictated by the main target species, this is usually indicated as a minimum number of days to give you the best chance at success on your hunt. This is fairly standardised across the continent and works well as a guideline for planning your trip, below is a summary of these time lines.
Buffalo + Plains Game : 7 - 12 days minimum
Crocodile/Hippo + Plains Game : 7 days
Elephant + Buffalo/Plains Game : 10 - 15 days
Leopard + Buffalo + Plains Game : 14 - 16 days
Lion + Elephant/Buffalo + Plains Game : 21 days
Lion + Leopard + Elephant + Buffalo + Plains Game : 28 Days
DANGEROUS GAME HUNTING
The thrill of hunting any of Africa´s dangerous game is unmatched whether it be Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard, Lion and even Hippo or Crocodile each has their own challenges and thrills. Regardless of which dangerous game you are hunting your quarry will command your attention at all times!
Your professional hunter will ensure your safety at all times during your hunt and ensure that you are given the full experience of tracking, approaching and selecting your quarry.

BOW HUNTING
Backcountry Africa was born out of the founder´s passion for bowhunting wild areas of Africa, the challenge of getting into bow range of African plains and dangerous game is one that requires utmost skill and patience.
It is essential that you are taken to an area that is well suited to bow hunting in terms of both the number of animals as well as the conditions and terrain. Fortunately we knowledge and experience to which these areas are and when is the best time to be there depending on what your primary objective is.
Collectively the Backcountry Africa team has guided over 20 species of African game with archery equipment.
PLAINS GAME & SPECIALIST PLAINS GAME
The majority of the areas we operate in have exceptional plains game hunting which is often combined with dangerous game hunts, but plains game only hunts can also be done in certain areas.
The variety of plains game in Africa is astounding , the BCA team thoroughly enjoys guiding hunts for specialist plains game such as Lord Derby Eland, Sitatunga, Sable , Various Lechwe and everything else in between!
