Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Russell developed his passion for hunting and the outdoors early in life growing up in a wildlife area in South Eastern Zimbabwe.

Russell founded Backcountry Africa in 2019 out of his passion for sharing wild places of Africa with travelers from around the world. Russell is a fully licensed professional hunter and has lead trips in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Uganda.

Russell has a passion for traditional hard hunting , especially tracking and is also a passionate bowhunter and has good success in guiding bowhunting clients to a fair number of species of both dangerous and plains game.

Russell currently lives on Lake Kariba in Southern Zambia.

Also born and raised in Zimbabwe, Zane has been around dangerous game hunting his whole life. He grew up in Matebeleland and thus has an intimate knowledge of the hunting in this region as well as elsewhere in Zimbabwe.

Zane has a passion for dangerous game hunting and has had exceptional success on all of the Big 4 in areas across Zimbabwe, he qualified as a professional hunter in Zimbabwe at a very young age and thus has already massed experience most professional hunters would be proud of.

Zane joined Russell with Backcountry Africa in 2022 and is in charge of managing all bookings in Zimbabwe.

Zane currently lives in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe
